Commercial - Tuesday & Thursday by Appointment (24 hour notice required)

Town of Mattawa, Municipality of Mattawan and Township of Papineau-Cameron residents are permitted to use the Mattawa Landfill Site.

Household Waste
- To be deposited at the established Landfill Tipping Face location

Cardboard
- To be deposited at the Cardboard Bin location

Electronics
- To be deposited in the E-Waste bin

Household Appliances with Freon
- To be deposited at the established Freon Appliance location. A fee will be charged for untagged items.

Wood products
- To be deposited at the established Wood Pile location

Steel
- To be deposited in the steel bin

Rubber Tires without rims
- To be deposited in the tire bin

Stone and concrete without steel
- To be deposited at the established Stone & Concrete Pile location

Electronic Waste Disposal

Residents of the Town of Mattawa, Municipality of Mattawan and Township of Papineau-Cameron residents can deposit electronic waste at the Landfill Site in the designated area. 

Electronic waste (e-waste) includes old, unwanted, or broken electronic devices and equipment. Common examples are:

  • Computers and accessories (desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards)
  • Televisions (CRT and flat-screen)
  • Phones and communication devices (cellphones, modems, routers)
  • Audio/visual equipment (stereos, cameras, gaming consoles)
  • Office electronics (printers, scanners, fax machines)
  • Home electronics (microwaves, small appliances with electronics)
  • Personal devices (smartwatches, fitness trackers, e-readers)
  • Batteries from electronic devices

E-waste contains hazardous materials and valuable resources, so proper recycling is essential.

Residents of the Town of Mattawa may take their Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) the Hazardous Waste Depot in North Bay free of charge.  The Depot is open year-round and is open Wednesday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.  For more information please call the Wasteline at 705-474-0400, ext. 2333

Residential garbage and recycling pickup is currently picked up by Paul Lafreniere Contracting.

Pick-up days may vary depending statutory holidays. See the schedule for details.

ONLY see through bags will be collected at curb.

Single-stream recycling is in effect. You are NOT required to sort your recyclables.

Winter Collection

November to May - Garbage and Recycling is picked up every 2 weeks

Summer Collection

June to October - Garbage is picked up once a week and Recycling is picked up every two weeks.

Acceptable materials are:

Paper Products 

  • Newspapers, flyers, and magazines
  • Office paper, including envelopes (even those with windows)
  • Paper bags
  • Cardboard and boxboard (e.g., cereal boxes, shoe boxes)
  • Paperboard packaging (e.g., tissue boxes, egg cartons) 

Plastic Containers 

  • Plastic bottles, jugs, and containers (e.g., milk jugs, detergent bottles)
  • Food containers (e.g., yogurt containers, takeout containers)
  • Plastic clamshell packaging
  • Clear plastic bags 

Metals 

  • Aluminum cans (e.g., soda, beer cans)
  • Steel cans (e.g., soup, tuna cans)
  • Aluminum foil (clean and free of food residue)
  • Metal trays and pans (e.g., baking trays) 

We DO NOT Recycle Glass at this time.
